Combatting Food insecurity

Over the Summer of 2022, the Livingston Youth Organization for Human Services (LYOHS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Matthew Zhang, conducted a Soup Kitchen in Newark to feed impoverished and low-income individuals. Omega Philanthropies fully sponsored this initiative, covering all of the financial costs. This sponsorship enabled the LYOHS Soup Kitchen to purchase enough food supplies to feed nearly 1,000 people in need.

Supporting underfunded school districts

Matthew Zhang is committed to addressing the educational disparities that plague his home state of New Jersey. When he learned that students in the Newark School District were struggling to afford school supplies for the next academic year, Matthew was determined to make a difference.

In August 2022, Omega Philanthropies purchased 350 school supply kits, totaling over 11,000 separate items, including writing utensils, art supplies, notebooks, folders, and other fundamental materials necessary for effective learning. These supplies were donated to the Newark School District to stock their classrooms for the upcoming school year.

“Our school district is extremely grateful to Matthew and Omega Philanthropies for their supply donation. It has provided extremely valuable and necessary assistance to the students in this community who cannot afford these supplies on their own.”
